The Canton of Burnfield would like to invite you to their May collegia & Burnfield crossbow event, which is held on the long weekend of May. The aim of collegia is to provide a relaxed environment for teaching in Arts & Sciences and the various forms of the Combat Arts.  Classes will be taught throughout the weekend, while Sunday will also be a day for Burnfield’s Crossbow event. So come visit Burnfield make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy the quiet and relaxed atmosphere they have to offer.

It’s a fully catered event, hearty food made from fresh local seasonal fruits & vegetables. BYO drinks & alcohol, some cans of drinks will be on sale.  We will try to cater for most dietary requirements at the head cooks discretion.

Camping and bunks are available at an additional cost.  Wayfarers have priority for bunks, but locals are welcome to use. Camping is $7 per person per night and bunks are $12 per person per night.  If these are not to your taste Maryborough is approximately 10/15mins away and have plenty of motels to choose from.

Site opens 4pm Friday and closes 2pm Monday to allow travellers time to head home.  Timetable will be published soon once classes are set in stone.

Class list so far:

  • Chainmail –  You will need: wire – 1.57mm (Bunnings) and two pairs of needle nosed pliers.
  • Rapier classes – class details to be advised
  • Soap making – Need $10 to cover ingredients.
  • PVC bows – cost about $10 – $15.
  • SCA etiquette – the do’s and don’ts of the SCA
  • Calico dolls
  • Italian dress
  • Banner & wall hanging – $10 paints & enlargement of heraldry (provide own fabric), $15 with fabric
  • How to improve your garb – taking it to the next level. Round table discussion, show & tell.
  • Heavy classes – class details to be advised
  • Approved Crossbow activities/event
  • Archery activities
  • Cooks guild – pies/tarts and discussion about what the guild is
  • SCA officers – roles, responsibly – what to expect. Round table discussion (BYO cider J )

 

More classes will be added once confirmation of teachers.
