Am I Welcome

The Canton Of Burnfield welcomes everyone – and yes, that means you. Regardless of your age, gender, sexuality, religion, cultural background, wealth, education, or anything else, we’d love to get to know you. If there’s any way we can support you and help you feel at home with us, please feel free to contact our Senechal The Honourable Lady AElfgifu of Burnfield (Anita), at seneschal@burnfield.lochac.sca.org

Accessibility

Our community works actively to make sure our events are accessible to people with disabilities, chronic  illnesses, and other health needs. Mobility aids are welcome regardless of their modern appearance, but our venues do vary in the accessibility of their facilities, so we recommend you get in touch with the event organisers as early as possible so we can support you to the best of our ability. Our cooks are always willing to accommodate dietary requirements given sufficient notice. Even at our camping events, we may have a small number of cabins available, and priority is always given to attendees with CPAP machines or other medical requirements. The Kingdom of Lochac is currently working to establish a community of Auslan translators who can make our ceremonies more accessible to people with hearing impairments.

Children & Teenagers

Children and teenagers are welcome at all of our events, and lots of our members bring their own families along. Young people are an important part of our community, and their contributions are recognised by special awards at the Kingdom. level. To make it easier for families to get involved, the Canton of Burnfield has a policy of free entry for minors whenever possible (although there is a compulsory $5 insurance fee for all non-members at each event). For more information, see our Youth Participation page.

Animals

While service animals are always welcome at SCA events, the Canton of Burnfield has a no dogs at events/venue policy. If you’re a horse lover, check out the Kingdom Equestrian page to find out how your equine friends can get involved.
